British Textile Week 2021

By 20th September 2021 No Comments

At David Walters Fabrics we were delighted to be able to take part in the UKFT’s British Textile week 2021. The event ran from 13th-17th September and provided a digital showcase of the craftsmanship, creativity and technical skills of the UK textile industry.

“British Textile Week 2021 is co-ordinated by UKFT and supported by The Clothworkers’ Company and the Campaign for Wool.”

This year’s theme was ‘New Horizons’ and how we look ahead to the future. The UKFT brought together some of the most interesting and dynamic manufacturers, brands and designers throughout the UK textile industry to show how they have developed for a post pandemic world.

Every day the UKFT shared a different focus, including companies from British Apparel Textiles, Interior Textiles, Technical Textiles, Textile Designers and British Yarn Producers.

Throughout the week there was an array of images, interviews and social media activity from all the companies involved. One of which was this blue image below of our new outdoor fabric range which is water & stain repellent, high abrasion and meets outdoor lightfastness specifications.

There were also special features such as the ‘Hot Off the Loom’ where we previewed one of our latest upholstery designs which highlighted the illustrative drawing style that we can achieve through jacquard weaving.

Additional content included a Roundtable Discussion with a panel of industry leaders, which we were delighted to be part of thanks to our Sales Director Ceri Yates.

As one of the U.K.’s leading jacquard manufacturers, we produce exceptional furnishing fabrics for international design houses and wholesalers.

“Embracing the ethos that the handle and drape of a furnishing fabric is just as important as its visual appeal, British Mills are highly skilled at creating fabrics with intriguing texture and relief as well as exceptional drape.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to UKFT for the opportunity to take part. It was great to see such a celebration of the industry with so many wonderful companies participating. We look forward to taking part next year.
